Does endlessly swiping through SRS memorization apps get a little dull sometimes? Well, now you can add spice and variety to your kanji studies with cute characters and fast-paced action. 

Don't be afraid to fall, just get back up and try again!

How To Play

Simply click on (or tap) the correct answer before you fall in the river.

Features

• Personalized learning: you choose the kanji - you can start from the beginning and go through it all in order, skip to any level studying just the kanji you're interested in, or just click "random" to try whatever comes up.
• 1000 kanji, 2000 vocabulary items - starting from elementary school first grade to early junior high school levels (*the browser version only has levels 1 - 3. Get the download for complete playability, all 10 levels*). 
• 5 at a time - don't swamp yourself with too much info all at once. Chunks of five is a manageable number to make real, lasting progress. 
• Timed response - answer in less than 10 seconds (or you'll fall in the river). This forces you to learn to read more quickly and recognize meanings reflexively. 
• Kanji search - enter the specific kanji you want. The result will show you the level it's in. (The search field only takes in single kanji characters)
• Get the full picture - kunyomi, onyomi, a vocab example, and English meaning for each kanji. 
  
• Review - when you go back to the main menu after playing, the kanji you were working on will be available for review. 
  
• Hiragana and Katakana are a must: they are necessary to learn before getting into kanji. To master hiragana and katakana, play this game. 

Tribute

"Hebi-sensei" is a tribute to Taka-sensei - of Instagram and TikTok fame. His antics did not inspire this game, but I thought his style was a perfect fit and I'm a big fan. So I included this character based on him. Please check out his taka_nihongo_dojo if you haven't yet.
